🚨 Mentor Junior Police Academy Offers Hands-On Law Enforcement Training for Youth

Mentor Police - Junior Police Academy

The Mentor Police Department is excited to offer a unique opportunity for young members of the community to engage with law enforcement through the Mentor Junior Police Academy. Scheduled from June 17 to June 21, 2024, this program is designed to provide a realistic glimpse into the life of a police cadet.

The academy will take place at Springbrook Gardens Park, located at 6776 Heisley Road, Mentor. Participants need to be dropped off by 8:15 am and picked up at 3:00 pm daily. Similar to professional police training, the program includes a variety of courses such as patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, K9 handling, SWAT tactics, CPR, crime scene processing, and self-defense. Cadets will also engage in physical fitness and drill instruction.

The program is intended for students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades from the Mentor School District for the 2024/2025 school year. It aims to cultivate a serious and disciplined approach to learning, mirroring the expectations of real-life police training, thus immature behavior will not be tolerated. Interested parties should submit their applications promptly as spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information or to address any concerns, parents and guardians can contact Officer Dan Radigan at [email protected]. The Mentor Police Department is enthusiastic about this educational adventure and anticipates a fun and insightful experience for all participants.

🥩 Swiss Steak Delight: Transform Inexpensive Cuts into Tender, Flavorful Meals

Courtesy of: spendwithpennies.com

Check out this great recipe at spendwithpennies.com!

Swiss steak holds a special place in my heart—it's synonymous with comfort, a dish I grew up eating when I was a kid and it’s one of my dad’s favorite dishes. Now, as an adult, it remains a beloved family favorite, revered not only for its incredible flavor but also for its economical appeal.

This Swiss steak is effortlessly cooked in a Dutch oven, though if you don't have one, no worries! It adapts easily to a frying pan and casserole dish method or can be prepared in a crockpot for a slow-cooked finish. The key to making Swiss steak tender and delicious lies in properly tenderizing the meat—pounding the steaks with a mallet-style tenderizer is crucial, especially when using tougher cuts like round or chuck steak.

Swiss steak transforms an inexpensive cut of steak into a delectable dish that brings warmth to any dinner table. It's a testament to how simple ingredients, when prepared with love and a bit of know-how, can be elevated to something extraordinarily comforting and satisfying. Whether for a cozy family dinner or a special weekend feast, Swiss steak is sure to delight.
