Dr. Sunil Ahuja has been appointed as the new president of Lakeland Community College, taking over from Dr. Morris Beverage Jr. Ahuja, who has a rich background in academic leadership, was unanimously chosen by the college's board of trustees. He has held significant roles at Shawnee State University, the University of Scranton, and the Higher Learning Commission. Ahuja's appointment is part of a strategic move to usher in a new era at Lakeland, and he will soon partake in the college's commencement ceremony as one of his first official acts.

An small aircraft crash occurred at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on Saturday evening at approximately 6pm, leading to a temporary closure of the facility. The crash involved a small aircraft, and emergency teams are currently assessing the situation. The number of individuals on the aircraft and the extent of injuries, if any, are yet to be disclosed. The airport has since reopened.

Identified through her microchip, her owner, Mehrad Houman, traveled from San Diego to Michigan for a heartfelt reunion. While it's believed Mishka might have been stolen and sold, her well-maintained condition suggests she was well-looked after during her time away. The family is now eager to uncover the full story behind Mishka's cross-country adventure.

⚾ Cleveland Guardians' Shane Bieber to Undergo Season-Ending Elbow Surgery
Shane Bieber, the ace pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a necessary elbow surgery. Despite a stellar start to the season, Bieber experienced recurring elbow pain, leading to a diagnosis of a re-injury to his ulnar collateral ligament.

⚾ Cougars Surge in Sixth Inning to Secure Victory Against Rangers
The Lake Catholic Cougars claimed a 10-4 win over the North Rangers, moving their season record to 2-1, while the Rangers fell to 0-3. The Cougars demonstrated a strong offensive performance, especially in the sixth inning, which was pivotal in their victory. Their next game is against Gilmour Academy, while the Rangers will try to secure their first win against Padua Franciscan.
⚾ Mentor's McCartney and Risma Shine in Convincing Victory Over Kenston
The Mentor Cardinals defeated the Kenston Bombers 9-1 in boys varsity baseball.
Mentor's standout performance came from Caden Risma, who impressed on the mound by striking out six batters in just over three innings while only allowing one run and one hit.
Jake McCartney was a key player for Mentor, achieving a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, which included a home run, five RBIs, and a double, significantly contributing to the team's success.
With this defeat, Kenston's record now stands at 1-2-1, a notable dip from their previous season's 22-11 record. Conversely, Mentor's victory advances them to an impeccable 4-0, maintaining their undefeated streak.
Looking forward, Kenston aims to bounce back in their upcoming game against Riverside, while Mentor seeks to extend their five-game home winning streak when they face Cleveland Heights.

Hello Travel friends. This week I wanted to share some tidbits from the world of travel news.
Vegan Meal Mishap on Japan Airlines:
One story that made the rounds on social media was the vegan traveler in first class on Japan Airlines who was only served a banana for his meal. The gentleman took it in stride and even noted that he thought it was cute that they served it with chopsticks.
American Cruise Lines Acquires Vessels:
American Cruise Lines (ACL) purchased Four vessels from American Queen Voyages (AQV) who closed operations on February 20th of this year as it filed for bankruptcy. AQV became the latest victim of the Coronavirus pandemic. ACL obtained four river vessels: The American Queen, American Empress, American Countess, and the American Duchess. We will need to see what ACL’s plans for the 4 paddlewheel ships will be. American Cruise Lines offers river cruises throughout the United States. AQV was a mainstay on the Mississippi river for several years.
Cruisers Left Behind in Africa:
You may have heard and seen the current big travel story of the eight cruisers left behind on an African island by Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL). Six Americans and Two Australians missed their all aboard time on the Norwegian Dawn by over an hour as they booked a private tour on their own. As a travel professional, I can’t stress how important it is to tell you to book shore excursions from the cruise line directly. Yes it costs more, However, the cruise line will stay if there is an issue getting back to the ship. NCL did leave the cruiser's passports behind with the local port officials per protocol. At this time all Eight passengers have returned to the ship.
In the next few weeks, I will be breaking down the different types of travel available to you. Land tour and packages, Cruise packages, and Independent travel.
As always, get your passport, book early, and purchase travel insurance.
