⏰ Daylight Saving Reminder: Change Your Clocks and Check Smoke Alarms
Daylight Saving Time ended at 2 a.m. this morning, November 3rd. In light of this, Ohioans are reminded to set clocks back one hour and check their smoke alarms for safety. The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office is urging residents to use this time change as an opportunity to replace smoke alarm batteries and ensure alarms are functioning correctly, an essential step for fire safety in homes. According to Fire Prevention Bureau Chief, working smoke alarms are crucial for providing vital seconds in case of a fire, allowing residents to escape safely.
The fire marshal recommends:
Replacing batteries in all smoke alarms without sealed batteries.
Testing alarms by pressing the “test” button to confirm they work.
Verifying that alarms have not exceeded their 10-year lifespan; alarms older than this should be replaced.
Ohioans who need smoke alarms can reach out to their local fire department or the American Red Cross for assistance.
📰 Northeast Ohio Sees Fall Sunshine Before Election Day Warm Spell
Sunday will bring a shift as a warm front moves north across the region, potentially bringing a few scattered rain showers in the afternoon and evening. However, most of the day is expected to stay dry, so the Browns game should go ahead without much interference from the weather.
This warm front will lead to a brief but noticeable warm-up early next week, with highs reaching the 70s on Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday, which coincides with Election Day, will be the warmest day of the week. Following this, a cold front is expected to arrive midweek, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of rain.

🏐 Lake Catholic Girls Volleyball Aims for Third Straight Title After Regional Win
Lake Catholic Volleyball
The Lake Catholic Cougars volleyball team added another trophy to their collection, winning the Division V regional title with a decisive 3-0 victory over Elyria Catholic on Saturday, Nov. 2. With set scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-11, the Cougars punched their ticket to the state tournament, aiming for their third consecutive state title, now in Division V.
Lake Catholic’s journey to this point came with challenges, including the graduation of six seniors and the introduction of new head coach Tess Connelly. However, the team’s spirit and skill carried them forward, with senior Natalya Bergant shining with seven kills and a final match-winning ace. The victory led to an emotional celebration on the court.
Facing Lake Catholic for the third time this season, Elyria Catholic came in with hopes for a reversal of fortune but struggled to counter Lake Catholic’s momentum. After taking an early lead in the second set, the Panthers saw Lake Catholic, led by Julia Oster and Ahnna Bergant, push ahead with powerful blocks and serves. Elyria Catholic coach Laurie Cogan credited Lake Catholic’s strong, well-rounded play.
Now, with the state tournament ahead, Lake Catholic is primed to keep their winning streak alive, driven by the same intensity and skill that has brought them this far.
