πŸš’ Local Kids Experience Hands-On Public Safety Fun at Home Depot

Local children got an up-close look at community safety forces this weekend during an interactive workshop hosted by Home Depot. The event brought together Mentor Police and Fire Departments for an engaging morning of learning and excitement.

Young participants put their building skills to the test, constructing miniature fire rescue trucks during a special workshop session. The highlight of the day came when children had the opportunity to explore actual emergency vehicles, including a fully equipped fire truck and police cruiser.

The excitement on the children's faces was unforgettable as they climbed aboard the real emergency vehicles who participated in the event. These kinds of interactions help build positive relationships between safety forces and our youngest community members.

For information about future community events, follow the Mentor Police and Fire Departments on social media or visit their official websites.

🚽 How to Tighten Up That Loose Toilet Seat

To secure a wobbly toilet seat, first locate the mounting bolts, which may be hidden under plastic caps removable with a flathead screwdriver. Ensure the seat is centered on the bowl before tightening. Use a screwdriver to turn the bolts clockwise. If a bolt spins freely, hold the nut underneath with pliers while tightening from above. Tighten both sides evenly for proper leveling. For extra stability, add washers between the bolt and toilet base. While an adjustable or socket wrench works well for tightening, use caution to avoid scratching the porcelain with metal tools. Make it easy, check out the video.

🚽 How to Fix or Replace Toilet Handle

Fixing a toilet handle requires a few simple steps. First, remove the tank lid and detach the chain from the flush arm. Using an adjustable wrench, loosen the mounting nut (usually reverse threaded) and remove the old handle. Clean the mounting hole with soap and water, then insert and secure the new handle. Finally, reattach the chain, ensuring it's not too loose or tight for proper flushing. If the handle is stuck, try replacing the entire mechanism or adding plumber's tape to stripped threads. Make it easier by watching the video above.

⚾ Detroit Evens Series with Dramatic Win in Cleveland

In a tension-filled Game 2 of the American League Division Series, the Detroit Tigers emerged victorious with a dramatic 3-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians, evening the series at one game apiece.

The game remained scoreless through eight innings, with both pitching staffs putting on a masterclass. Tigers' ace Tarik Skubal, the AL Cy Young favorite, dominated with seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight. Cleveland's Matthew Boyd matched Skubal's effectiveness, throwing 4β…” scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The deadlock finally broke in the ninth when Kerry Carpenter launched a three-run homer off Guardians' All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase, who had been nearly unhittable all season with a microscopic 0.61 ERA. The blast proved to be the difference-maker in this pitchers' duel.

The series now shifts to Detroit for Game 3 on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 3:08 p.m. ET. Both teams will be looking to take control of the series with home-field advantage now belonging to the Tigers.
