🎠 Join the Celebrations at the Lake County Fair: A Tradition Since 1840

The Lake County Fair in Painesville, Ohio, has been held annually since 1840. Initially hosted on Bank Street, the fair moved to its current location in 1912. The Lake County Fair is an eagerly anticipated annual event organized by the Lake County Agricultural Society, Inc., which comprises over 500 residents. Governed by a 19-member Fair Board, each of the county's original townships has representation as mandated by the Ohio Revised Code.

Unique among Ohio fairs, the Lake County Fair features a kickoff parade, set for Tuesday, July 23, at 6 PM. The parade will commence at 508 Mentor Ave in Painesville City, in the parking lots of Zion Lutheran Church and First Church of Christ. It will proceed west down Mentor Avenue to Fairgrounds Road in Painesville Township, culminating at the fairgrounds.

The fair offers a plethora of activities, including various types of racing: half-car racing on Wednesday, Moto-X racing on Thursday, and a demolition derby on Sunday. Additionally, attendees can enjoy pig races, the Whiz Bang Science Show, 4-H events, and numerous other attractions. The fair also boasts exciting rides, livestock exhibitions, and a wide array of delicious fair food. Come and join us for a great time of family fun!!

🍝 Mama Roberto's: Mentor’s Haven for Hearty Italian Meals

Another delightful visit to our favorite Italian restaurant in Mentor, OhioMama Roberto's – reaffirmed why it's our go-to dining spot. Our family frequents this gem as often as we can, and last night was no exception. We indulged in two lasagna dinners and a spaghetti and meatball entrée, each meal impressively generous in portion. The entrées are not only substantial but visually appealing and incredibly tasty.

These meals came with a hearty serving of salad, which I absolutely adore and would miss dearly if it weren't included. We always opt for their house Italian dressing, which is exceptional. And then, there's the bread. Whether it's the traditional Italian loaf or the delightful pull-apart bread, it's always a treat. Personally, I have a soft spot for the pull-apart variety.

Our family finished our meal satisfied and happy, and I can wholeheartedly recommend Mama Roberto's as a prime spot for outstanding Italian cuisine in Mentor. One final note: they really should consider selling their sauce in quart containers! 😀

Cease Dominates as Padres Shut Out Guardians 7-0

Dylan Cease led the San Diego Padres to a 7-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians with a dominant pitching performance, allowing only one hit and striking out 10 in seven innings. Jake Cronenworth contributed a home run and three RBIs. The Padres' combined one-hitter included perfect innings from Jeremiah Estrada and Yuki Matsui. San Diego improved to 51-50 while the Guardians maintained the best home record in the majors at 31-12. Guardians' starter Gavin Williams struggled, allowing six hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings. Top prospect Travis Bazzana joined the Guardians for batting practice after signing his first professional contract.
