📰 New Budget Plan to Ease Property Tax Pain for Lake County Seniors

Lake County is facing increasing property taxes due to upcoming revaluations this summer, impacting residents already burdened by high living costs. To assist, particularly senior citizens, the Lake County Treasurer's Office has launched a free 12-month prepay budget plan, allowing for monthly tax payments starting in August. The plan supports payments via various methods and aims to ease the financial strain of lump-sum tax bills. Additionally, the Lake County Council on Aging is providing educational sessions on financial management and available resources to help residents navigate these financial challenges.

The Council on Aging will partner with the Treasurer's office for meetings at 2 p.m. on May 28 and June 13 at 8250 East Ave., Mentor. On May 8, a session will be held at 6 p.m. To learn more about the payment plan program, call 440-350-2516.

If your family member could benefit from services at the Council on Aging, call 440-205-8111.

🏈 Cleveland Browns Focus on Strength and Strategy in 2024 Draft Selections

Emerging from the remnants of the Deshaun Watson trade, the Cleveland Browns entered the 2024 NFL Draft with limited draft capital but managed to enhance their already formidable front seven by selecting Michael Hall Jr. from Ohio State. At 6'3" and 290 pounds, Hall, slightly smaller for a typical defensive tackle, is expected to start his NFL career contributing in a rotational capacity.

The Browns also picked up Zak Zinter, a guard from Michigan known for his aggressive run-blocking, which aligns well with Cleveland’s run-oriented offensive strategy. Zinter, too, is set to begin as a bench player, poised to earn a starting position in the future.

Addressing past draft challenges with receivers like Cedric Tillman, David Bell, and Anthony Schwartz, Cleveland made a strategic move by drafting Jamari Thrash from Louisville. Thrash, known for his strong after-catch abilities, is anticipated to thrive as a slot receiver in the NFL.
