🏎️ Roar by the Shore Shifts Gears to Willoughby for Enhanced Veteran Support Event

Roar By The Shore

The beloved annual event, Roar by the Shore, traditionally held in Mentor-on-the-Lake, is setting its course slightly westward this year. The event, which supports veterans, will now take place at Osborne Park in Willoughby on August 31. This change comes after the event outgrew its previous location at Mentor Beach Park, prompting a search for a new venue with more space and better facilities to accommodate its growing popularity.

The decision to move was influenced by city regulations in Mentor, which restrict the complete reservation of parks for private events. Despite Mentor City's strong support for veterans, they adhere to a policy that does not allow the exclusive rental of park spaces to private organizations. This policy led to the event's relocation to Willoughby, where city officials and residents are excited to welcome the car show and its attendees.

Last year's event faced challenges with space, resulting in over a hundred cars being turned away. The need for a larger venue with more parking and suitable amenities was evident, and although Mentor-on-the-Lake offered alternatives, they were not viable for the event's requirements.

The move to Willoughby is seen as a positive step for Roar by the Shore, offering more room for participants and spectators alike. The event's organizers are hopeful for a successful show and are open to the possibility of returning to Mentor-on-the-Lake in the future, emphasizing their continued connection to the community and their commitment to supporting veterans.

🐕 Experts Reassure: Eclipse Quirks in Pets No Cause for Alarm

s the excitement builds for the upcoming solar eclipse, a common concern emerges: How will it affect our pets? Veterinarians advise pet owners to simply monitor their pets' behavior during the event, noting that while some animals might exhibit unusual behavior, there's no need for alarm or special eyewear for them.

In the heart of the excitement is Akron Zoo, which has become a hub of anticipation with its fully booked eclipse-related events. The zoo's education mission manager, shares the community's enthusiasm, particularly for a unique animal behavior study during the eclipse, a project in collaboration with NASA.

The study aims to observe and record how different animals respond to the eclipse, providing valuable insights into their behavior during such unusual events. An associate veterinarian at the zoo, predicts that certain species, like owls, flamingos, and cats, might display atypical behaviors as they react to the changes in natural light.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ethan Horst of the Turkeyfoot Family Pet Center reassures pet owners that most domestic animals should be untroubled by the eclipse. He emphasizes the importance of keeping anxious pets indoors, not because of the eclipse itself but to avoid potential hazards from increased traffic as people gather to witness the phenomenon.

In essence, while the solar eclipse is a significant event for humans, it's expected to be just another day for our animal companions, with a few interesting behavioral quirks to observe.
