📰 From Extinction to Expansion: Ohio Welcomes Back the Fisher Population

In Ohio, the wildlife community is buzzing with news from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. They've confirmed the presence of fishers, a type of forest-dwelling carnivorous mammal from the weasel family, indicating a significant ecological development. A female fisher, unfortunately found deceased in Ashtabula County, was discovered to be pregnant, underscoring the species' gradual colonization in the state. Fishers, which had vanished from Ohio in the mid-1800s, are now being spotted with increasing frequency, especially in the northeastern region. This resurgence is attributed to fishers migrating westward from Pennsylvania. The Division of Wildlife is keenly monitoring these animals through various means, including analysis of roadkill specimens, to gather crucial data on their spread and health in Ohio.

🛣️ E-ZPass Users to Enjoy Seamless Travel with Ohio Turnpike's New System

The Ohio Turnpike is set to undergo significant enhancements, a plan that has been developing over the last eight years to benefit approximately 140,000 daily drivers. The Turnpike Communications Director, Charles Cyrill, emphasized that this new system represents a significant technological advancement, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and customer convenience.

To prepare for the transition, around 550,000 customers were notified about the upcoming changes. One of the notable modifications includes reducing the number of toll plazas from 31 to 24, which will decrease operational expenses for the Turnpike Commission and shorten travel times for E-ZPass users. A key feature of the new system is open road tolling, allowing E-ZPass holders to traverse the entire 241-mile toll road at highway speeds without stopping.

The removal of twenty E-ZPass entry and exit gates at 20 toll plazas and the conversion of nine toll plazas into non-tolled areas will streamline the tolling process. Motorists will be guided by overhead signs indicating "No Toll, Keep Moving." While these updates cater primarily to E-ZPass users—who enjoy an average saving of 33%—the system still accommodates those who prefer to use cash or card by pulling tickets.

Cyrill advises E-ZPass users to ensure their transponders are correctly mounted for accurate detection. Additionally, cameras will be employed to read license plates and bill those without an E-ZPass or when the transponder is not recognized.

✈️Frontier Airlines Boosts Cleveland Presence Amid Service Quality Concerns

Frontier Airlines has announced an expansion at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport just as the spring break season begins. This news comes amidst troubling reports about the airline's service and reliability. One traveler shared a particularly distressing experience with Frontier, describing it as the worst he's ever had. After a trip, he faced a canceled flight in the Dominican Republic, poor customer service, inadequate accommodation arrangements, and a subsequent day filled with uncertainty and delays.

Further investigation into Frontier's performance reveals a concerning pattern. The airline holds an F-rating from the Better Business Bureau and ranks lowest in on-time arrivals and flight cancellations among major carriers, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Despite these issues, Frontier is promoting its growth in Cleveland, drawing attention to new flights and potential economic benefits. However, the airline's poor track record raises questions about the quality of service passengers can expect.
