Northeast Ohio is under a Winter Weather Advisory due to expected freezing rain. ODOT is preparing with 70 trucks for salting roads in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. 🗞️ Lake County Commissioners Unanimously Approve Balanced 2024 Budget

Lake County commissioners have unanimously passed a balanced 2024 budget, achieved through collaborative efforts. The budget focuses on the general fund, crucial for daily operations, with over 65 percent allocated to public safety and the judicial system. The budget avoids tax increases and is part of a plan that includes attention to a new public safety center.

Commissioner John Plecnik emphasized the significance of the budget, expressing pride in achieving a balanced budget without the need for tax increases. “The County budget is the single most important decision we make as Commissioners. I am extremely proud to support a balanced budget without raising taxes. The taxpayer is our boss, and we never forget it,” said Commission President John T. Plecnik.

🤕 Ohio Battles Winter Roads: 14th Snow Plow Hit, Continuing Trend

Keep an eye out on those roads! This winter in Ohio, two more snow plows were struck by vehicles, raising the season's total to 14 incidents. The Ohio Department of Transportation reported that the 13th plow collision occurred on Friday night along U.S. Route 36 in Delaware County, near Columbus. The subsequent incident, marking the 14th, happened just after midnight on Saturday in Mercer County. In this case, the plow was entering the garage when another vehicle attempted to overtake it on the left side.

Fortunately, both of these incidents resulted in no injuries and only minor damage to the plows. Remarkably, despite these collisions, both plows remain operational and in service. Comparatively, last winter saw a total of 26 plows involved in accidents. By this point in the previous winter season, the count had reached 18 plows.
