🎖️ Local Officers Honored with Prestigious Award for Courageous Life-Saving Acts

The Lake County Association of Chiefs of Police has recently recognized three local law enforcement officers with the Life Saving Award, honoring their acts of valor and quick thinking in critical situations. Officer Anthony Childs of the Mentor Police Department was commended for saving a suicidal man on Interstate 90, showcasing remarkable restraint and compassion in a high-stress scenario. In a separate incident, Patrolman Steve Sobkowich of the Willowick Police Department demonstrated lifesaving skills by performing CPR on an unresponsive man following a car accident, ultimately saving his life. Officer Stacee Wright from the Willoughby Police Department was honored for her decisive action and medical expertise in a tense confrontation with a suicidal, knife-wielding individual. Each of these incidents underscores the dangers and responsibilities inherent in police work, as well as the critical role officers play in community safety. The awards highlight not only the individual acts of bravery but also the ongoing dedication these officers have to serving their communities. This recognition serves as a testament to the exceptional courage and commitment demonstrated by law enforcement personnel in protecting lives.

🥕 New Year's Resolutions?
Pause, Please! It's National Ditch Your Resolution Day

How am I just now hearing about this? I didn’t know this was a “thing”?
On January 17th, the calendar cheekily winks at us, reminding us that our New Year's resolutions are, well, optional. Welcome to National Ditch Your Resolution Day, the day when your gym shorts get to take a breather and the kale in your fridge sighs in relief. It's the day when all those ambitious promises we made to ourselves under the spell of New Year's fireworks get a reality check.

This day is like a hall pass from your health coach or a 'get out of jail free' card from the Monopoly box of life. It’s the universe's way of saying, “Hey, it’s okay to eat that extra slice of pizza." Panera Bread gets it - they celebrate by tempting us with free Sourdough Melts. Because what's better than breaking a diet? Breaking it with free food!

It's not just about breaking diets, though. It’s about taking a breather from any overly ambitious goal that seemed like a great idea until you actually had to do it. National Ditch Your Resolution Day is the acknowledgment that sometimes, binge-watching your favorite series is more appealing than learning Mandarin.

So, on this day, we raise our donuts (or dumbbells, if you must) to balance, realism, and the joy of occasionally being a little naughty. Remember, resolutions are more of a guideline than a rule. Happy Ditch Your Resolution Day!

Despite limited play due to an elbow injury and ongoing trade speculation, Bieber's notable achievements, including the 2020 AL Cy Young Award and consistent performance, make this a key move for the Guardians. Bieber's future with the team has been uncertain, but this contract signifies his ongoing value. The Guardians also have other arbitration-eligible players to consider in their season preparations.
