🗞️ Severe Storm Causes Widespread Power Outages Across Northeast Ohio

A severe storm system sweeping through the Great Lakes region led to widespread power outages in Northeast Ohio. Due to the high winds, FirstEnergy reported thousands of customers without power, while American Electric Power had approximately 1,149 outages (as of the time of the writing of this article). The most significantly impacted counties included Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake. Local weather departments are saying that the high winds may continue through Wednesday.

As a quick reminder, we should secure or bring inside any loose items that could become airborne hazards during times of high wind. When going outside, be aware of your surroundings and watch for falling tree branches, live fallen wires or other objects that could be dislodged by the strong winds.

📺 Local Guy, Michael Vallely, to Compete Again on 'Jeopardy!'

Michael Vallely, an employee at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is getting a second shot at "Jeopardy!" fame. His return to the popular game show is set to be aired on Wednesday, January 10, as announced by NASA in a recent news release. Vallely's first appearance on "Jeopardy!" was back in June, where he made an impressive run with about $27,000 before falling short in the Final Jeopardy round. In addition to his game show endeavors, Vallely is known for his inspiring personal story. He is a multiple-time cancer survivor and has shared his journey with viewers. Vallely also actively participates in a cancer support group, where he engages in nightly "Jeopardy!" play sessions with the group's lead.
